How to Convert Text to Digital Book
Digital books are increasingly popular as an easy way to share knowledge. There are numerous uses, from personal sharing to business contracts to collaborative projects. Digital books have created a new line of electronics such as e-book readers. Digital books capture text in a format where words and context cannot be changed. They can be formatted in fonts and colors that are attractive and easy to read. One popular format is the Portable Document Format or PDF.
- Download and install PDF printer software to your computer. There are free software programs as well as paid programs. Adobe Acrobat is one of the paid programs and probably the best known. You will need administrator rights to install new software.
-
Step 2
Open your word processing program and either create a new file or open an existing file.
-
Step 3
Format the file as if you were going to print it, which is what you are going to do. The difference is that you are not printing it to paper but to a file.
-
Step 4
Click on “File” in your word processing program, and select “Print.” You will be given the option to choose a printer. Select the PDF printer that you installed, name the file, and complete the printing process by clicking “Print” or “OK,” as required by your specific software. You now have text in a digital book format.
-
Some software programs such as Microsoft Office and the Adobe Creative Suite have built-in functions that allow you to create PDF documents without any additional software.

PDF is not the only digital book file type. Other types include Plain Text, the HTML markup language used to build web pages, the AZW file type used in Amazon’s Kindle, Flip Books, and several other formats.
